We haven't been to storytime for awhile because our schedule has changed, but we used to go every week. They have stories and a craft and special activities around holidays like wearing costumes at Halloween and an Easter Egg hunt in the spring. They also have guest story readers like "Uncle Wally," a.k.a. Wally Amos. (Heard of Famous Amos cookies? He invented them.)
Here are things I love about the library:
• saving money by borrowing instead of buying books
• using their online database to look up books ahead of time rather than trying to use the computer catalogs at the library with a toddler in tow
• being able to request books from any Hawaii state public library online and pick them up at my nearest library
• being able to return items to any location, not just the one you checked them out from
• the used book stores alongside the libraries run by "friends of the library" (I know Kailua and Kaneohe libraries have these, do others?)
Do it yourself on Oahu (and neighbor islands too)
Locations: Here is a link to find the locations of all 51 Hawaii State Public Libraries
Hours: Here is a link for library hours for all the locations in the state

Happy reading!

We actually *just* went to our local library for story-time, crafts and even trick-or-treat fun. I just found your blog recently, but love all the activities you post about. Perhaps we'll cross paths in the future (we're on Oahu also) :)
